Description
Here's a perky rufous or spotted towhee bird among the branches of a small dogwood tree. This is one of the most colorful birds seen in the Sierra Nevada foothills. He stands out against the green bamboo in the background. Love his red eye. We had just had our first snow in early December 2013 and there is still a little left visible along the branch. This photo was taken in my back yard in Paradise, California.

very nice shot. I find birds difficult esp small birds since they don't like to stay in one place for very long.

Thank you, Audrey, I teased this image out of a larger photo. When I tried to capture a resting bird, it would move before I clicked :)!
