Description
WHAT: A mixed media artwork using an upcycled or recycled packing paper. I thought of the concept of someone outside looking in or whether the viewer or the eye is on the inside or outside. The title is actually "Outside Looking In?"
WHEN: Summer, 2016
WHERE: Bille Park, Paradise, California
WHY: I was fascinated by the way the pierced packing material paper stretched and wondered if I could try using it in an art piece. I had a lot of cadmium red and started with a canvas covered with it. I thought: what about an eye looking through the net formed by the paper? To add interest to the paper, I painted it with swirls and circles in a 60's style design.

This is an amazing abstract capture, Michele! When I first saw it in the thumbnail, it looked like snakeskin. When looking at the larger image, I thought it was metal against an orange background. What a surprise to discover in your description that it is actually packing paper! L/F
