Description
While on a trip of the American West, we had a brief ride on the Black HIlls Central Railroad, with restored cars and engines dating from the early 1900's. It is now an attraction in the Black Hills of South Dakota. The restored train steams its passengers 10 miles on the Keystone Branch of the Burlington Northern Railroad, from Hill City to Keystone, South Dakota. The line was originally used for transporting ore from gold mining and later for transporting equipment for carving Mount Rushmore. Pictured is a late spring shot of the Baldwin 2-6-2T tank locomotive, built 1926, one of the restored steam engines of the heritage railroad.
