WHAT: Abstract oil and ink painting of an orchard in spring with mustard flowers growing between the rows of bare trees at sunset.
WHEN: March, 2016
WHERE: Coming home from the Sacramento Valley between Marysville and Oroville, we passed many such orchards at sunset with no flowers or leaves yet.
WHY: This was to be a fun sketch using ink for the trees and then finger paints for the sunset and mustard plants. It turned out the ink was water soluble, so I used oil paints instead, which did not disturb the ink of the trees. It did take longer to dry, however.
