WHAT: Portrait of my mother at 93 done in colored pencils on brown Canson paper, taken from a photo I took of her while on a California tour. This drawing won a Third Place ribbon at Silver Dollar Fair in Chico, California in 2015.

WHERE: Napa Valley Wine Train, California
WHY: I liked the way the light from the train window fell upon her face as she studied the menu.
